10 Days until Christmas!! 


7A and 7D will be finishing our novel study this week!  They will be planning their final project next week, no homework for the holidays!

8A is finishing up with Chapter 2, they have a source analysis assignment on google classroom that is due Monday.  Their Chapter 2 exam is on Thursday, December 22. 

9C and 9H are working on their Chapter 3 project.  They are required to create their own Charter of Rights and Freedoms.  Their Chapter 3 exam is on Tuesday December 20 (9C) and Wednesday December 21 (9H)

8A - You will have time to work on your project on MONDAY, it will now be due on Tuesday.

9C & 9H - Your projects are due on MONDAY, no late exceptions

7A - Your rough copy of the chapter 1-5 summary is due on Monday

7D enjoyed the weather, "The Breadwinner" and some naan, Afghan style!

7D - Tomorrow will be your last opportunity to work on your "whats on the menu?' assignment.  After tomorrow's class this will be homework.  The menu is due on FRIDAY, October 21.

7A - Your "White Owl" worksheet must be handed in at the beginning of class tomorrow.

LA 7A - Your grammar assignment is due on Thursday, October 6.  

LA 7D - We will begin presenting your biographies on Friday, October 7. 

SS 8A - Your silk road mapping assignment is due on Thursday, October 6.  

SS 9 C& H - Your brochures are passed due.  Remember you are penalized 10% per day that you do not hand it in!

LA 7 A & D: "100 things I love" posters are now passed due.  Please get these into me, next week those that have not handed it in will serve lunch time detentions until it is done.  We have moved into a unit on discussion skills.

SS 8A: We are wrapping up our introductory unit of Worldviews.  We have a quiz on worldview tomorrow.

SS 9 C & H: Students just completed a quiz on the vocabulary terms of chapter 1.  These marks are available on powerschool, there is an opportunity to re-write this quiz tomorrow at lunch.  We are now working on federal election brochures.  These are due on Tuesday, September 27.

A new school year, a new set of blog posts!

The first couple of weeks have been spent getting to know each other and getting back into the swing of things.

Social Studies 9C/9H have already written a quiz on the three branches of the federal government.  Marks will be on power school next week.

Social Studies 8A has been working hard to uncover the concept of worldview - they have quickly discovered that their life experiences, knowledge, ideas, culture, friends, family and MANY more factors have helped to shape their own view of the world.

Language Arts 7A/7D  have been working on their first writers notebook entry, "100 things I love".  This list of 100 of their favorite things will serve as a reference point/inspiration for their journal entries throughout the year.  They should now be done the list and are working on creating a poster which visually represents these things.  These posters are due tomorrow, Wednesday Sept 14 for 7A, and Thursday, September 15 for 7D.

Our ELJHS SWAT team has been busy getting ready for the 40th annual "Conroy Classic" (Terry Fox Run) will take place in the afternoon of the 15th.  Homerooms are collecting "Toonies for Terry" in support of the Terry Fox Foundation.  We will keep collecting toonies until the end of September.  The homeroom that raises the most money will receive a pizza lunch from SWAT!

S.W.A.T. PM had a very important and informative visit with Miss. Mcrae's Grade three students at East Elementary today.  They discussed bullying and practiced bullying prevention.  Great job S.W.A.T.

Social Studies 9 B/D Chapter 3 exam marks have now been posted on powerschool.  Students have been provided with an optional extra credit essay to complete if they wish to raise their mark on this exam.  This essay is due on Wednesday, January 13.
